Our Comforter Comes When We Call (even if we’re to blame)

Our Comforter Comes When We Call (even if we’re to blame)

Our Comforter was absolutely there for me when I recently had a car accident. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured.

I wrote the following poem in my journal the next morning after a five-page-long entry. Writing is how I sort out my feelings. In a future post and podcast I’ve written, I share the whole story. But for now I want to encourage you to think about what you appreciate most about your faith.

Trust me, your faith is the top and bottom line when you’re miles from home

and you’ve totaled your car.

Our Comforter:

Whether we’re a victim or a culprit

God sees and knows it all

And He comes, cares, and comforts

In answer to our call

Whether we’re innocent or guilty

God already knows which

And He loves unconditionally

Each hurting child of His.

I’ve shared what I appreciate most about my faith in a short post on HeartWings Blog, which you can see (and join in the conversation) by clicking here: What Are You Most Thankful For About Your Faith?

The comments on the post are the best part of Β it. I love it when people share from the heart–don’t you?

Here’s the Bible verse that comforted me the morning after the accident:

…the LORD will hear when I call to him.

Psalm 4:3 NIV

Totally Blessed ~ Wendy
