Joy can blossom

in any season

with thanksgiving and praise

when we lift our hearts in love

to the Ancient of Days

Flowers appear on the earth;

the season of singing has come,

the cooing of doves is heard

in our land.

Recently, an owl called out to my husband and me.

We were on a favorite neighborhood walk,

after having finally recovered from a flu.

It was a simple-pleasure-turned-treasure

to be outside after being housebound for a week.

The owl seemed to be celebrating along with us.

I’m sharing this flower-power bouquet of fresh picks

from a local demonstration garden.

I take so many pictures that I’m able to save some for a rainy day.

And believe me, we’ve had some very rainy days in our valley.

The same week Ian and I were sick,

our valley experienced some flooding.

He couldn’t go to work because the area was under water.

Our home was safe and dry.

By the time my husband was well,

the flood had receded, and all was back to normal.

I’m thankful for the timing, so that he only missed one week of work.

He’s thankful too.

There’s always something we can be thankful for.

So no matter how gray and rainy it gets here on the coast,

I’ll remember that spring is just around the corner.

Thanksgiving is always in season.

    1. Thank you, Ian, for stopping by. My husband and I love Union Bay. The character homes and oceanfront give it a priceless ambiance. We also love our home in the Comox Valley since it’s handy for our teens to do their activities. What province are you living in now? Blessings as you soon build your new home. ❀

        1. Jennifer, thank you for introducing us via your blog. You keep good company, and I’m honored to have been invited. Maybe one day we’ll all drive across Canada and visit your island. Have a warm and cozy weekend. Our island’s been shaking a wee bit with mini-quakes. l may just drive out that way sooner than later. ❀

          1. Wow, wouldn’t that be quite the experience! Just let me know when, and I’ll roll out the welcome mat. Oh wait, I already have one out there. lol
Seriously, I would love it. I hope those mini-quakes cease and desist, though.

  1. Wendy, this is so beautiful. It just lifts my heart and reminds me of how precious we are to the Lord. His timing is perfect. I’m so glad to hear that you are both over your sickness:) Good health to you both and God’s blessings!! P.S. I, too, would love to get a dusting of snow!

    1. Thank you, dear Susan. I agree that God’s timing is perfect. Not that I’m always patient about it. But He’s perfect nonetheless. Our thankfulness shines His Light and joy into our circumstances. As I type this, the sun is breaking through the thick fog outside. Blessings for a beautiful 2015. ❀

  2. Wendy your flowers are so beautiful, especially the bee shots. That must have been amazing to hear the owl call, we never see them much they are so good at hiding, a glimpse here or there. Happy that you had a chance to slow down all thanks to a flood. I do believe everything happens for a reason. Blessings to you.

    1. Thank you, dear Kath. I continue to enjoy your drawings of wildlife and farm animals. We’ve had an owl in our old cherry tree, and I took pictures. But they didn’t turn out very clear. One morning we found a rabbit’s foot dangling in another tree. Not lucky for that little bunny. ❀

I enjoy a word in season, so I'd love it if you added an apple to the bowl.
