Thanksgiving for the Healers

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Physician
not a magician
But just a human
administering care
Gentle bedside manner
a must
Patience needed
for patients everywhere
Movie stars
Rock stars
Raved about
Reviewed
While truly tangible heroes
go unsung
working tirelessly
without
their just dues!
Healing Blessings ~ Wendy
PS – I wrote this after a doctor’s appointment I’d taken my son to, yesterday. My son commented that physicians don’t get the recognition they deserve; yet, professional athletes and rock stars etc. get so much more. ย He thought that it was unbalanced.ย  A close friend of mine is a doctor because she loves to help people. ย She is not rich either.
Right after my son’s appointment with his doctor, my doctor came into the room and we smiled at one another. ย She was off shift doing her paperwork and commented I had not been in for a while. ย So she grabbed my chart and discovered that it had been four years… Yikes! She commented that I was a typical mom forgetting to keep up with my own checkups. ย Next thing you know – I’m in her office getting a checkup! I love my doctor. ย She is so kind.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my American neighbors and friends! ย And thank you to all you wonderful doctors, nurses, counselors, lab technologists, and first responders etc. ย You are appreciated!
  1. What a lovely and thankful poem/post, Wendy–what a blessing it must be to have a son who is so sensitive and appreciative. God bless you all–love from one of your US sisters, Caddo
  2. You are absolutely right, Wendy! The real heroes don’t get the recognition they deserve and we need to be more intentional in expressing our appreciation to them. Thanks for the reminder! ๐Ÿ™‚
    1. Yes, they work really hard. My own doctor has always treated me with such tender care. We were both pregnant with our first babies at the same time. I am so blessed to have her for a doctor! She walks the extra mile…
I enjoy a word in season, so I'd love it if you added an apple to the bowl.
